Netflix’s Scooby-Doo! Live-Action Series to Feature Camp-Set Supernatural Murder

Date:

Netflix is officially moving forward with its first-ever live-action series based on Hanna-Barbera’s beloved Scooby-Doo! franchise. Produced by a collaboration between Warner Bros. Television, Berlanti Productions, and Midnight Radio, the show will feature a young cast portraying Fred, Daphne, Shaggy, and Velma. Showrunners Josh Appelbaum and Scott Rosenberg are tasked with bringing this new vision to life.
The series’ plot is centered on a pivotal summer in the lives of the teenage protagonists. During their last summer at camp, they stumble upon a supernatural murder case, with their only witness being a lonely Great Dane puppy. This event forces the group to confront a frightening nightmare that could expose their most guarded secrets. The narrative is described as a contemporary update that combines the classic themes of mystery and friendship with a new layer of suspense.
The season will consist of eight hour-long episodes, providing ample time to develop the characters and the central mystery. Although the working title is Scooby-Doo! The Live-Action Series, a final name has not yet been announced. Production, originally scheduled for late 2025, has been rescheduled. Filming is now expected to commence in early 2026.
Anticipation for this project is building, as it marks a significant departure from previous animated and live-action adaptations. The focus on a younger cast and a more supernatural-tinged mystery aims to both honor the original spirit of the show and attract a new generation of viewers. The announcement of casting for the iconic roles is highly awaited by fans worldwide.
