Canada, the United Kingdom, and France have delivered a stark warning to Israel, condemning its expanded military operations in Gaza and the West Bank. In a forceful joint statement on Monday, the leaders declared their intent to take “concrete actions,” including potential sanctions, if Israel fails to cease its renewed offensive and lift severe restrictions on humanitarian aid.
The trio sharply criticized Israel’s recent allowance of minimal food into Gaza as “wholly inadequate,” branding the escalating human suffering as “intolerable.” “We will not stand by while the Netanyahu government pursues these egregious actions,” the statement asserted, emphasizing that continued escalation would trigger further responses.
While reiterating support for Israel’s right to self-defense against terrorism, the allied nations deemed the current escalation “disproportionate.” This comes as Israel intensifies air and ground operations across Gaza, including ordering evacuations in Khan Younis, and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu vocalized plans to “take control of all of Gaza” and encourage Palestinian emigration—a suggestion rejected by Palestinians.
The joint statement also unequivocally condemned the expansion of West Bank settlements, labeling them “illegal” and a threat to a viable Palestinian state and regional security.
